Aivia Software

Save an image

The working image and any objects and measurements generated in the current session of Aivia can be saved to an Aivia TIFF file. Once saved, you will be able to load the image and its associated data into Aivia for future uses. Converting an image file to the Aivia TIFF format enables better viewing and loading performance in Aivia and is, therefore, highly recommended.

The Aivia TIFF (.aivia.tif) format is based on the OME-TIFF format from the Open Microscopy Environment and is readable across other software platforms that support the OME-TIFF standards. Please refer to the documentation on Aivia TIFF for more information on the format specifications.

Data such as objects and measurements generated in Aivia may only be read in Aivia.

For information on batch-saving images to the Aivia TIFF format, please refer to the article on the Batch Processor.

Save

The Save operation performs an in-place save, which saves the current state of the image including display settings and objects to the file's location without creating a new copy. The following are ways to perform a Save operation:

  1. Click on File > Save. The File menu is in the upper-left corner of the Aivia window.

  2. Press Ctrl + S.

  3. Run the Save command from the search bar.

In-placing saving can only be done with images that have already been converted to the Aivia TIFF format and that have not had major changes to the image channel data made in the current session. If Aivia detects that the channel data has been altered significantly, the Save As... dialog will appear. Some changes that can trigger this include generating a new channel, deleting a channel, etc.

Save As

The Save As operation saves a copy of the image with its current settings, objects, measurements, etc. as an Aivia TIFF to a specified location. The following are ways to launch the Save File(s) dialog for a Save As operation:

  1. Click on File > Save As.... The File menu is in the upper-left corner of the Aivia window.

  2. Press Shift + Ctrl + S.

  3. Run the Save As... command from the search bar.

  4. Right-click on the thumbnail of the image you would like to save in the Image Explorer, and then select the Save option from the context menu.

In the Save File(s) dialog, navigate to the desired save location for the file and enter a unique file name in the text field at the bottom of the dialog. Click Save to confirm.
