The Advanced Measurements interface allows you to define measurement functions for your analysis results. Several functions and operators are provided for use in Advanced Measurement expressions; for example, the built-in Summary function computes a given summary statistic for a given measurement and displays the result in the Summary tab of the Spreadsheet.
Interface
To open the Advanced Measurements interface, first open the Spreadsheet tab of the Contents Panel, and then click on the Measurement Tool icon to open the Image Measurements window. Click on the Advanced tab to view the Advanced Measurements interface (see below).

Name | Description |
---|
Name | Allows you to edit the name of the measurement |
Set | Allows you to select the object set for the measurement |
Measurement | Allows you to select measurements to add to the Advanced Measurement expression |
Insert | Inserts the measurement shown in the Measurement box into the expression |

Table of Advanced Measurements
The table of Advanced Measurements shows the name, expression, and input object set for each Advanced Measurement. You may click and drag the vertical white lines that separate the column names to change the column sizes.
Double-click on any row in the table of Advanced Measurements to load the corresponding measurement information into the top section of the interface, where the measurement may be edited.
Click on the Remove icon in the row of a measurement you would like to delete in order to remove that measurement.
Using Advanced Measurements
To add an Advanced Measurement, first navigate to the Image Measurements window by going to the Spreadsheet in the Contents Panel and then clicking on the Measurement Tool icon. Open the Advanced tab of the window, and type the name of the measurement into the designated box. Then, select the object set that the Advanced Measurement will belong to from the Set menu, and type the expression for the Advanced Measurement in the Expression box. You may use the Measurement menu and Insert button to add existing object measurements to the expression. More information on how to include existing measurements as well as which operators and functions are available for use can be found in the following sections as well as the Advanced Measurements Functions page. Once the expression is complete and valid, click on Add to add the measurement to the table of Advanced Measurements. Click Finish to initiate measurement calculation and to exit the Image Measurements window.
To edit an Advanced Measurement, double-click on the measurement in the table of Advanced Measurements; this populates the top section of the interface with the name, object set, and expression for the selected measurement. Edit the information for the measurement, and then click Update to update the Advanced Measurement.
